Smoke on the water, fish in the cooler….

It remains brutally dry here in NW Ontario, with another 20 fires reported just the other day alone, bringing the active fire total to 140 in the Northwest Region. Most of the activity is well north of us, so when the winds shift from the N or any variation thereof, we are seeing lots ofContinue Reading

(Almost) mid-August update

Yea, I know what you mean. REALLY mid-August already???? Hard to believe another summer has flown by, isn’t it? It’s been so dry here, some of the trees are changing and dropping their leaves already, which really makes it feel like fall in that sense. The daytime temps in the upper 70’s though continue toContinue Reading

Good Fishing, Good Friends and Good Times

Another week in camp passes under bright sunny skies and nights cool enough to grab a sweatshirt for the evening. Not quite the fall of the year, but the days grow shorter and the nights are getting long as we approach one of our favorite times of the year in camp. Fishing remains very goodContinue Reading

ON-LINE LICENSING NOW AVAILABLE!

After being promised this was going to happen for the last THREE years, it appears to be a reality! So excited for our guests, I haven’t even worked my way through the website myself to be honest with you, but from what I can tell it’s up and running. Looks like there is also aContinue Reading

February Blues? Time for shows!

Perhaps February “boredom” would be a better title? The very mild winter and a much slower show schedule this year, apparently is leaving me with too much time on my hands. After hearing from several guests about “keeping the Blog updated” etc., thought I would use a little of this free time between shows to doContinue Reading

Michiana Walleye Association Scholarship Fund

For the past six years we have been fortunate enough to be involved with the Michiana Walleye Association and their annual college scholarship fund the Ukele Memorial Scholarship. In case you missed it on our Facebook page, we donate a FREE trip for two to camp every season ( a $1,400.00 value) to the MWA, andContinue Reading

March Madness

If you thought from the title, this Blog was going to be about the college basketball tournament, you are wrong. Although the tournament is certainly a big part of March, the title is actually referring to the weather. Even at that, I’m not sure “madness” is the best adjective to describe this weather pattern! We cameContinue Reading

Still May in Ontario

Although a lot of the midwest (including back home in Indiana) is experiencing weather much more like July with temperatures in the 90’s, I can assure you this week it still feels like May here in Ontario. Lot’s of rain, stronger winds, and today a few snow flakes mixed in for good measure have soContinue Reading

Delayed (again) but no “pressure”…

Sorry for the lateness in getting a new blog entry out here. I had drafted one for the week of June 2-9, entitled “High Pressure, NO Stress” mentioning the incredible high pressure system we had that week that brought abundant sunshine, warm weather and an extremely calm lake almost all week. Problem is, I neverContinue Reading

Peffley's Wilderness Camp is a family owned and operated camp. Dave has been fishing Wabaskang Lake for over 25 years and was previously a guest of this camp for 12 years prior to purchasing the camp in 2005. I am a proud supporter of our military and offer a nice discount during the month of July to our guests who have also served. I have three daughters ranging in ages from 16-21 who spend much of their summer with us in camp and have totally embraced the wilderness experience we offer. They have for years referred to it as the "best summer experience ever".

While rarely necessary on our lake, because I do have a very good working knowledge on how and where to fish on Wabaskang Lake and our portage waters, I will guide groups if asked to. Otherwise, I am always happy to share information with our guests and provide them well marked lake maps so they can start catching fish their first day in camp.

I pride myself on running a very clean and well managed camp with your satisfaction our top priority. Many guests who have fished from this camp for over 20 years, and several more that have fished here for over 30 years and even some over 40 years.
