Countdown to opening day continues

Well here we are just 12 short days to the 2015 season opener! The weather in NW Ontario has been quite cooperative (for a change), with many lakes in the area either ice free or very near ice free. Music to our ears after the adventures of the past couple of seasons.

I will hopefully be able to post some updates, most likely on our Facebook page, from camp on Wednesday this week. We expect another great season of fishing on Wabaskang Lake again this year, as the lake continues to live up to it’s outstanding reputation as one of the best fisheries in our region. We also look forward to hosting many of our long time repeat guests and making new friendships with some groups that will be fishing with us for the first time.

In addition to our normal start-up agenda, this year before opening camp, we plan to tackle a complete rebuild of our roadside landing dock which many of you know from last year took an absolute beating from the near record high water levels we experienced much of the season. Other than that additional start-up project, we hope to find that camp weathered the winter well.

With our website redesign this fall, you may have noticed that the Fishing Reports page from the old site is no longer a part of the new website. No worries, you will be able to follow all the fishing action and other camp activities right here in the blog. Until next time from Perrault Falls, be safe and see many of you soon!

Peffley's Wilderness Camp is a family owned and operated camp. Dave has been fishing Wabaskang Lake for over 25 years and was previously a guest of this camp for 12 years prior to purchasing the camp in 2005. I am a proud supporter of our military and offer a nice discount during the month of July to our guests who have also served. I have three daughters ranging in ages from 16-21 who spend much of their summer with us in camp and have totally embraced the wilderness experience we offer. They have for years referred to it as the "best summer experience ever".

While rarely necessary on our lake, because I do have a very good working knowledge on how and where to fish on Wabaskang Lake and our portage waters, I will guide groups if asked to. Otherwise, I am always happy to share information with our guests and provide them well marked lake maps so they can start catching fish their first day in camp.

I pride myself on running a very clean and well managed camp with your satisfaction our top priority. Many guests who have fished from this camp for over 20 years, and several more that have fished here for over 30 years and even some over 40 years.
